GINEBRA vs PHOENIX
EVENTS: 2017 PBA GOVERNORS CUP
After starting their campaign on a loss, the reigning champions are now the hottest team in the league with five consecutive victories and 5-1 record as they share the top spot with Meralco Bolts, the only team that have beaten them in this tournament.
Unable to break away in the first half despite leading by as many as 13 points, the Gin Kings got their job done at the start of the second half, scoring 32 third-quarter points and holding down the Fuel Masters to just 18 to establish an 85-68 cushion that they never surrendered.
With an obvious height advantage, Ginebra dominated the rebounds, 76-47, with 34 of those coming from the offensive end that translated to 34 second chance points.
Barangay Ginebra also ruled the shaded lane after producing 68 points, with bigs Brownlee, Aguilar, Slaughter, and Devance having a field day after contributing in double figures.
Justin Brownlee led the balanced attack with an all-around game of 24 points, 17 rebounds, five assists, four steals, and two blocks in 40 minutes.
