This new group of amateur and college basketball players fought hard but eventually fell short against more battle-tested Indians 91-83 on Day 1.

While Chinese Taipei is basically parading their Team-B, this group is nevertheless reinforced by several pro players and their ever reliable naturalized player, Quincy Davis III.
The Philippines will be leaning their hopes on Mark Belo and Ed Daquioag, who recorded 21 and 15 points respectively in the opener. Again, Chinese Taipei is going to be a lot tougher matchup for the Filipinos, mainly because they have experience playing together and Davis is there patrolling the middle.
