The Batang Pier again surged ahead in the third after Pringle hit a three-pointer and Terrence Romeo exploded for seven straight points, including a triple that put the team up by 11 points, 61-50, after the 10-0 blast.
They battled to keep the Beermen at bay the rest of the period with Joseph Yeo keeping their lead at seven, 73-66, after knocking down a triple in the dying seconds of the period.
Marcio Lassiter and June Mar Fajardo spearheaded SMB’s efforts to come back into the game in the fourth but GlobalPort produced some big shots to remain in front.
Yeo and Pringle made some difficult plays while Romeo found Glover for an off-balanced finish plus the foul as they tabbed the lead at eight points, 92-84, with under four minutes remaining.
Lassiter and Reid made back-to-back baskets to come to within four, 92-88.
Pringle, though, made a huge play, losing the ball on a drive but recovering it before just barely beating the shot clock with a jumper, 94-88.
Reid responded with two free throws before GlobalPort showed plenty of guts, essentially going 4-on-5 on offense with Pringle hurting himself in the previous possession but the team unable to make a substitution in time.
Romeo made a strong move to the hoop and laid it in for a 96-90 lead.
SMB still tried to close the distance but couldn’t get the job done with Reid visibly displeased after the Romeo basket.
