GlobalPort jumped out to a double-digit lead as early as the second quarter after some sharp outside sniping from Karl Dehesa and Semerad. Romeo chipped in with a four-point play late in the first half as they entered the break leading by 11, 52-41.
Romeo and Semerad each had 11 points in the first half while Joseph Yeo added nine markers.
They still led by as many as 13 points early in the fourth quarter before Meralco, behind Durham, chipped away at that lead to come back to within striking distance.
The Batang Pier seemed on their way to protecting the victory, though, when Pringle struck to make it a six-point game, 100-94, with only 20 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
But the Bolts stunned their opponents as Cliff Hodge knocked down a big three-pointer and, after a GlobalPort turnover, Durham completed a clutch three-point play to force an unlikely deadlock heading into the dying seconds of the game.
Durham scored 14 points in the fourth quarter alone.
In the overtime period, GlobalPort again blitzed their way into the lead after consecutive treys from Semerad and Romeo. But Meralco would again refuse to go away, getting big shots from Ryan Buenafe and Anjo Caram to stick around.
Durham hit a crucial three-pointer – his second of the game – to tie the game again at 110-apiece.
Romeo responded with a big shot from the perimeter but Meralco’s Bryan Faundo answered with a layup on the other end. Pringle, too, came up big for GlobalPort with a drive to the hoop, 114-112.
But Meralco found another hero to step up as Chris Newsome drained a huge jumper from the midrange to tie the game at 114-all with nine seconds left on the clock.
Pringle nearly put an end to the game with a spinning scoop layup that seemed to go halfway down before rolling out at the buzzer.
Durham continued to carry Meralco in the second overtime as he helped lead his team to a 123-120 lead.
But a three-pointer from Washington and another one from Semerad from the right corner with 16 seconds left to finally earn their first win.
