San Miguel was led by the returning Arizona Reid, who scored 25 points but shot only 12-for-31 (38%) to reach his total. Marcio Lassiter also had 20, built around five three-pointers, before fouling out early in the fourth quarter.

Reid immediately announced his return to the PBA as he went out and led all scorers in the opening period with nine points, although he needed 12 shot attempts to get it.

His San Miguel team, though, trailed by a single point, 23-22, after the first quarter.

Rain or Shine then took control of the game in the second quarter, where they pounded San Miguel with 38 points while allowing only 20 on the other end.

They did most of their damage in a big 17-4 run that saw Lee knock down back-to-back threes. Jireh Ibanes also hit a triple while Raymond Almazan struck in transition to make it a 14-point game, 46-32.

They made another run late in the period with Tiu hitting a pair of treys and Beau Belga hitting a free throw to give the team a whopping 21-point lead, 61-40, before settling for a 61-42 lead at the half.

Lee had 12 points while Henderson-Niles had 10 markers and eight rebounds to pace the Elasto Painters at the halfway point while Lassiter had 13 points – including four big triples – for the Beermen.

Reid had 11 markers but struggled from the field, shooting just 5-for-18 (27-percent).

Reid started to get going in the third quarter as San Miguel started to rally. Alex Cabagnot added a trey, June Mar Fajardo scored in the post, and Gary David leaked out for an easy layup in transition as they came to within 11 points, 77-66, in the third.

But Rain or Shine didn’t panic, instead showing its resilience as they rattled off eight straight points to counter.

Cruz hit two straight threes before Henderson-Niles finished on a layup inside and got a split from the stripe on their next offensive.

After a basket from Lassiter, Henderson-Niles made a tip-in and Tiu knocked down two free throws after drawing a foul on a fastbreak attempt as the Elasto Painters made it a 22-point game, 90-68.

Rain or Shine led San Miguel, 92-70, at the end of three quarters.

San Miguel showed some signs of frustration in the fourth quarter as Chris Ross was whistled for a technical foul for continuous complaining and Lassiter fouled out of the game with 10:47 still left to play in the contest.

Arwind Santos, too, got caught with a flagrant foul penalty one after body checking Jeff Chan on the perimeter as Fajardo shot a free throw.

Chan knocked down both of his flagrant free throws and Almazan scored off a putback while earning an extra free throw that made it 98-76.

San Miguel challenged again as they came to within 16 but Norwood hit a three-pointer then ran the floor for a big dunk on the break. Henderson-Niles then forced a turnover on Reid and Almazan made another huge play, grabbing an offensive board off of a miss and finished it for an and-one play.

Norwood and Maverick Ahanmisi would later make some threes to put their lead up to 25 points, 114-89.

Rain or Shine was able to pull out its regulars with nearly three minutes still left to play in the game.
