Mahindra kept the game close, tying the ballgame at 57-all with 10:03 remaining. But Star went on a 14-1 tear led by Cruz and Ratliffe to make it a 13-point game, 71-58.

With the win, the Hotshots finished their elimination round campaign with a 5-6 record, closing the door on the Enforcer (4-7).

Star got off to a hot start, scoring 32 first quarter points with Ratliffe, Maliksi and PJ Simon scoring eight apiece in the opening period. They struggled after that, though, mustering a mere 21 points in the second and third quarters combined.

But they came out with a huge effort in the fourth.

With the game deadlocked at 57-all, Cruz was fouled shooting a three, making all of his free throws. Sangalang followed that up with a bucket and Cruz struck again before Ratliffe finished on back-to-back buckets to push the difference to double figures, 68-57.

Dehesa made 1-for-3 from the stripe before Cruz capped the run with a big triple, 71-58.

Mahindra made one last run as they trimmed it down to six, 73-67, on an Aldrech Ramos three-pointer but Cruz made two more treys to seal the win.
