The Blackwater Elite leaned on impressive performances from import MJ Rhett and Mike Cortez as they trounced the GlobalPort Batang Pier, 115-103, in OPPO PBA Commissioner’s Cup action Sunday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Rhett scored 30 points and 13 rebounds to bounce back from a sub-par showing in a loss last time out. MJ Rhett, Mike Cortez deliver as Blackwater routs GlobalPort to snap skid.

After a tied first quarter at 27-all, Blackwater broke the game wide open late in the second quarter. Rhett provided energy with his slam dunks, while Cortez showed some flashes of his old self with nifty plays and timely baskets.

That fueled a 16-2 run for Blackwater which grabbed a 62-48 lead.

The Elite then opened the third frame with a bang, suddenly making it a 20-point game, 76-56, in a spurt punctuated by Art Dea Cruz steal and layup.
