San Miguel Beer against Talk ‘N Text in hopes of nabbing its seventh straight victory in the 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup.
The Beermen’s early struggles are long forgotten as they racked up six straight conquests, with their latest coming in the form of a 96-92 win over NLEX on Friday.
Surging San Miguel Beer and skidding Talk ’N Text renew their rivalry with the Beermen gunning for their seventh straight win and a slot into the next round in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“So far. We’re doing a good job as a team,” said San Miguel Head Coach Leo Austria, whose team went 0-2 before finding its rhythm.
June Mar Fajardo tries to lead the San Miguel Beermen to their seventh straight win and into the playoffs when they face the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters tonight.
TNT was beaten by Rain or Shine, 88-73, in an out-of-town game in Bacolod City over the weekend.
Barako Bull is on top of the standings with a 6-1 win-loss record, while San Miguel lurks behind with a 6-2 slate. Also in hot pursuit are Alaska (5-2), Meralco (4-3), Globalport (4-4), Kia (3-3), Star (3-4), Rain or Shine (3-4), TNT (3-4), Ginebra (3-5), NLEX (2-5) and Blackwater (1-6).
Only the top eight teams will advance to the quarterfinal stage, with the first to fourth qualifiers earning twice-to-beat bonus in the crossover round opposite the fifth to eighth seeds.
The bottom four teams will be eliminated automatically from the playoffs race.
Well aware of the team’s delicate situation,TNT mentor Jong Uichico said they have to bring their A-game to have a chance to winning against the red-hot San Miguel squad.

Talk ‘N Text held the advantage early after firing off an 11-1 run in the first quarter that gave them a lead of 13 points, 25-12. They hung onto that lead until the end of the period, 28-15, with Jayson Castro leading all scorers with eight first-quarter points.
San Miguel, though, finally found its offense in the second. After putting up a mere 15 over the first 12 minutes, the Beermen pounded the Tropang Texters’ defense with 30 big points as they wiped out the big Talk ‘N Text lead, which stood highest at 17 points.
Lassiter put San Miguel ahead by three, 45-42, late in the quarter before Castro knocked down a three-pointer that forced a deadlock heading into the halftime break.
Reid had 15 points for the Beermen at the half while Castro had 13 for the Tropang Texters.
San Miguel continued its tear in the third. They mounted a 10-3 run built around back-to-back three-pointers from Arwind Santos as they jumped ahead by eight points, 69-61.
They entered the fourth leading by the same margin, 75-67, before Reid pushed it up to double figures on the first possession of the fourth quarter.
Castro scored 25 points to lead Talk ‘N Text.
