Alaska fell behind, 65-49, early in the third but mounted a huge comeback behind Dondon Hontiveros, who scored eight points in an 18-1 run that put them ahead late in the quarter.Hontiveros finished with 13 markers. Cyrus Baguio also reached double figures with 10.
Sol Mercado turned in a vintage performance in the first half. He tallied 14 points on 5-for-7 shooting as he spearheaded a Ginebra attack that also saw Orlando Johnson and Greg Slaughter score eight apiece.
Mercado scored 10 of those in the first quarter while Slaughter and Johnson did most of their damage in the second quarter, where the Kings were able to turn a 32-all deadlock into an 11-point lead, 45-34, after a 13-2 run.
That was enough for Ginebra to grab an eight-point halftime lead, 53-45.
Travis had 11 points and 13 rebounds although he only shot 2-for-10 from the field in the first half. Ginebra counterpart Johnson had eight points and seven boards at the break.The Kings pushed their advantage to a high of 16 in the third quarter before the Aces finally found its rhythm.
A confrontation between Calvin Abueva and Johnson seemed to fire up Alaska as they went on a blistering 18-1 run that swung things in their favor.
Alaska led, 77-75, at the end of the third.
The Aces then took care of business in the final quarter, where they led by as much as 13, to cruise to the win.
