Star led, 20-16, in the first quarter before the Hotshots closed the period with a 17-2 run that made it a 19-point lead at the end of one period.

They kept the pressure on in the second, more than doubling GlobalPort’s halftime output. The Hotshots scored 73 points to only 35 from the Batang Pier.

Blakely had 19 of his game-high total in the first half, where Star scored a whopping 37 and 36 in the first two periods. Mallari added 15 and Barroca chipped in with 10 for the Hotshots in the first half.

Star was merciless in the third quarter, pushing the lead past the 50-point mark on a three-point play from Justin Melton.

Even veteran James Yap got in the act, turning back the clock for a big dunk in the period.

The Hotshots capped their dominance by pushing the lead to a high of 61 in the fourth period but some late baskets from the Batang Pier trimmed the lead down before the final buzzer.
