Orlando Johnson led the way with 25 points but the Kings’ local performers had the chance to show their stuff in this one.
Mark Caguioa scored 21 – 16 of those in a sizzling hot first quarter – while LA Tenorio had a nice all-around line of 20 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists.
Japeth Aguilar, playing his first game of the conference, had 15 points and 10 boards while leading the team’s charge in the fourth period.
The Kings led by 20 points in the first half but allowed the Elasto Painters to take the lead in the third quarter. It didn’t matter, though, as the returning Aguilar scored nine points in a final period where Ginebra led by as much as 18 points yet again.
Johnson opened the final period with two more points and Tenorio sank another from long range to make it 76-65 in favor of the Kings.
Aguilar, who missed the team’s first few games due to an injured hamstring, had his moment in the fourth quarter.
He rattled off nine unanswered points for Ginebra, including two off a nice pump fake for an and one in the post. He also crashed the offensive glass for some second chance points and even swatted McKines on the other end.
Ginebra led, 90-73, with 3:13 after Aguilar’s burst.
